Over the years since we have been back in Virginia many of our Army friends we knew back at Fort Riley have migrated to the Virginia area. They say its a small world when it comes to the Army and that eventually you see each other again, so when Kristen and Jacob asked for me to come take photos of their newest addition I was elated! When we left Kansas we had one kiddo and Kristen had her daughter and son. Now they have four beautiful healthy children and I am taking notes y'all!! Meet baby Reggie!! These kids are absolutely AMAZING! Right when I arrived they were super curious about what I brought and quite the little helpers :-) We started with sibling photos so I could capture as many of those kisses and snuggles as possible. For the rest of the session these kiddos made sure their baby brother was happy and comfortable. Between Stella bringing me wraps, Hank playing a super hero, and Ramona making a story to go with each set up, I think Reggie will grown up with the best big brother and sisters. What would a newborn session be without a couple little outtakes :-) ![]()

When your brother and sister in law tell you they are having their first baby, well you start planning :-) I am so happy to do what I do and get to document their experience with some photos they will cherish for years to come. Isn't she stunning in the gown from Sew Trendy Accessories! Pregnancy looks so good on her. I am keeping my fingers crossed their little baby boy is born on Valentine's day!! These two are being so sneaking keeping the name from all of us! We have only been given a few hints and over Christmas saw a photo of a stocking with two bows covering the name. So now everyone has given him the nickname "Two Bows"! Just a little outtake...because it wouldn't be a Semonite session without a few of these... And trust me I have almost as many outtakes as I do nice photos of these two!
Hello 2017!!! New Year means new goals, and this year my goal is to stay up to date on my blog! This means you get to see what I'm up to a lot more than just what I post on Facebook! That being said, this blog post is long overdue and I must give credit where credit is due!! When Laura and I first met at a newborn workshop we knew there was some familiarity but neither of us could put our finger on it. Laura was already pretty established in the newborn photography world, whereas I was just getting started. So while she was assisting the lovely Amber Maness of Little Moon Photography and I was learning, we got to chat a bit and found out we both grew up in the same area! We quickly Facebook friended each other and followed each others business pages, but it wasn't until I needed help finding a second photographer last minute that she stepped in and I knew I had found a lasting friendship. Over the past couple of years we have collaborated many times on sessions and discussed numerous projects we are interested in. We have assisted and photographed each other for some big moments but what really matters is that we encourage, support, and most of all trust each other. Many photographers in this industry keep others at such a distance which in my opinion puts them at a disadvantage. There is so much to be gained from collaboration rather than competition and we are proof. Now don't get me wrong, there are a few bad apples, but you will never know what to look for if you don't try. The first is STYLE! Laura and I have a pretty similar style. We both like rich tones, vibrant colors, and bokeh...LOTS AND LOTS OF BOKEH! hahaha . Second is THE EXPERIENCE. We both try to get a wide range of perfectly posed images with a bunch of candid moments mixed in, because lets be honest, not everyone is perfect! The third thing we have in common is that we LISTEN to each other. We are flexible with one another when it comes to the design or artistic nature of a session. This is key because I like when someone listens to me but also wants to try something different. Lastly, we like to have FUN! We have never put any pressure on each other for a session to be perfect, and sometimes the imperfections make the best photos! ![]() Her pups know how to take a picture!! Laura is an amazing person and I am so happy I met her!!! We have many plans for 2017 which include expanding our group of collaborating photographers for some styled shoots and really creative sessions!
